One Book One Community 2017

White Fang by Jack London was the chosen book for the One Book One Community Project 2017. The girls in fourth class in North Pres. read this book along with other children from other schools including Blarney St., St Vincent’s, The Mon Primary, The Mon Secondary and Gaelscoil Pheig Sears. Ms Towhig’s class did many extra activities associated with the novel including projects and artwork. A number of girls participated in an art workshop with their parents where they made clay models of wolves. There was a quiz held between all the participating schools in the area. Our White Fang adventure ended with a celebration in the Blackpool Library. All schoools were in attendance and performed musical and poetry numbers. This event was also part of Cork’s Lifelong Learning Festival. The girls’ projects and artwork will be displayed in the Blackpool Children’s Library for the fortnight over Easter.
