December Roundup

It was a very busy month on the lead up to the holidays in December. The parents classes enjoyed their graduation and had a celebration at the end of their classes. The parent's association enjoyed a special Christmas breakfast. Ms. Coleman had a very busy month. There was cuddle and read with the children in Early Start with parents, grandparents and other relatives coming in to read with the children. There was the draw for the Christmas Hampers for all the families that brought in their Christmas Wish stars. 4th class sang in Blackpool at the Community Christmas market. Everyone there enjoyed listening to them and the children enjoyed listening to the other schools performing as well. The two 2nd classes were busy as well. Mr. Stack's class went baking cookies while Ms. Twohig's class went playing Christmas games on the school chrome books. 3rd class put on their own puppet shows in their classes using shadow puppets that they made themselves. The end of the term finished off with a whole school December Assembly where 1st class performed a Christmas song through ISL (Irish Sign Language) and the Junior Infants performed some wonderful Christmas poems.

Lord Mayor's Visit

We were delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor Councillor Kieran McCarthy to the school today. The whole school welcomed him with the infant classes waving their flags, while the children sang a beautiful rendition of Ireland's call. The Lord Mayor spoke to us about how he developed a love for the history of Cork City and how he was always trying to find out more information.

Intercultural Day

We held our Intercultural Day in the school yard today. It was a fantastic day where all the children dressed up in their traditional clothes. The projects that the children completed over the last few weeks were on display in the yard. There was also displays of tradition clothes. The parents and the children brought in tables of food from all the different cultures and nationalities. In the yard there was performances from some of the classes before all the parents and adults joined in for some zumba dancing. Ending the day was a céilí which everyone loved. Thank you to the teachers and all the parents who helped organising the day.
