We are very lucky to be part of the Home School Community Liaison Scheme. This enables us to be in very close contact with the parents, which in turn is of immense assistance to the over all education and happiness of the child.

Some of the activities which parents take part in are:

  • Happy Talk
  • Junior Maths
  • CAPER – Children And Parents Enjoy Reading
  • Maths For Fun
  • Maths Eyes
  • One Book One Community
  • Professor Fluffy

Parents also have the opportunity to further their own education through attending classes in :

  • Cookery
  • English as a second language
  • Crochet

Our Parents’ Room is equipped with a kitchen, play area and tea and coffee making facilities. It is an ideal place for parents to meet up with other parents from the school and support each other.

I look forward to seeing you in school throughout the year.

CAPER- Children and Parents Enjoying Reading.

Our Senior Infant and 1st Classes enjoyed CAPER over the last four weeks. The children really enjoy listening to their parents reading and talking about the stories. The children and teachers were delighted that 40 mums and dads came in to show their children how important and enjoyable reading is.

Mercy Coffee Morning

On Friday 19th October our Parents’ Association organised a coffee morning in aid of the Mercy Hospital’s POONs Service (Paediatric Oncology Outreach Nursing Service). Thanks to the support of our families, friends and school staff €500 was raised for this worthy cause. Thank you to our Parents’ Association and all the parents who volunteered to help out on the day. Thank you too to all the people that supported this event by attending the coffee morning or donating cakes. The NCE Bakery in Farranferris donations included a cake that was raffled and Healy’s Bakery donated a delicious and beautifully presented cake. Well done to everyone for supporting such a worthy cause.

Junior Maths

Our Junior Infant parents have been very busy helping their children with Maths activities. Last week the parents worked with the children in class doing matching activities. This week the children and parents were sorting objects. Next week the children will be ordering and sequencing with their parents. There has been a fantastic turn out of both mums and dads. Mr O'Conor, Ms Lucey and Ms Ahern are really proud of their pupils and delighted with so many parents getting involved.

Dentist in Aistear

no images were found

The Senior Infant classes have been learning about the dentist in Aistear. They did role play last week where they pretended to be receptionists, dentists and patients, which was great fun. As part of their learning, they visited their local dentist at O'Hara's dental clinic on Shandon Street. They met the staff there and they learned all about looking after their teeth. They had a lovely time!
